Interclub Digital Print Competition 2004

Congratulations to Southport Photographic Society who were victorious in this year's closely contested Digital Print Competition. Heswall were just 2 points behind in second place with North Cheshire PS and Dumfries CC a creditable joint third. Click here for the full results table.

The competition was judged this year David Butler MFIAP ARPS who had the challenging job assessing 90 prints from 18 clubs from cold in the short time available. David kept his audience engaged with his considered and humorous comments.

David selected 'Tsunami" by Robert Devenish of Hoylake Photographic Society as the best print in the competition. Robert was the first recipient a unique contoured glass plaque donated to the Society by the daughter (pictured) of the late Alan Adshead. Alan was a popular member of the Society until his untimely death following a climbing accident last year. The plaque is engraved with the words: The Alan Adshead Memorial Trophy for the North Cheshire Photographic Society’s Annual Interclub Digital Print Competition.

It is to be awarded to the author of the best individual print in that competition which traditionally takes place on the opening night of the Society’s Annual Exhibition at Poynton. All prints were digitally photographed and, for the benefit of the large audience, projected onto our 10’ x 10’ screen via an OPTOMA Digital DLP Projector kindly loaned to us on the night by Optoma Europe (visit their website at www.optomaeurope.com). A specially designed computer programme enabled each club’s prints and cumulative totals to be projected as they were marked by the judge – another innovation introduced by North Cheshire P.S. this year.
