A Public Hanging - Special Announcement

On Wednesday, 13th February, over 140 new exhibition prints will be hung in the Main Hall at Poynton Civic Centre ready to be viewed by the public – as well as by our own members and those of the many visiting Societies taking part in the competitive events (now known as the "North Cheshire Challenges") on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. In addition, over 60 slides will be back-projected prior to commencement of the main programme at 8.00pm prompt each evening. Doors will be open at 7.00pm and refreshments will be served during the evening. These are included, together with the Exhibition Catalogue, in the admission price of £2.50 for Wednesday and Thursday - and £6.00 for Friday’s Special Musical Evening.

Discounted prices are applicable to multiple tickets – details to be announced.

The very best of competitive photography will be attracted to Poynton on Wednesday and Thursday – two unmissable events for everyone with an interest in imaging.

On Wednesday top clubs from Scotland and Wales will be competing with the leading clubs from throughout our region with exhibition prints - over 100 in all - and Thursday sees a similar number of DIFFERENT images submitted for the digital projection competition. So over the two days something in excess of 300 inspiring pictures (including those exhibited by North Cheshire members) will be judged and on view for all to assess.

These two competitions truly represent an unprecedented extravaganza of all that is best in imaging today. Make a note in your diary now for Wednesday,13th February and Thursday 14th February.

On Friday, 15th February North Cheshire PS hosts a musical evening at our exhibition venue. This follows the great success of our first venture into a combined photographic and musical event last year. This year we have our local Poynton High School Concert Band playing during the first half of the evening, with a performance by Fosbrook Folk (with their step-dancing routines – as seen on TV) to round off the entertainment after the refreshment break. We expect to attract a large contingent of supporters from the local community so please be early. Doors open, as usual from 7.00pm.

The Annual Exhibition is the main event in North Cheshire’s calendar and we are confident that this year’s programme will provide a memorable highlight for all our members and visitors. We hope you will help us to break all attendance records!
